‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star Melissa McCarthy dies at 55

Posted September 28, 2018 05:24:07 Hollywood actress Melissa McCarthy, who starred on the hit television series Grey’s Anatememedy, has died, her publicist confirmed Friday.

The actress, 57, died Friday morning in her home in Malibu, California, a source told The Hollywood Reporter.

McCarthy’s agent, Michael Aronson, confirmed the news to Deadline.

McCarthy was a former star on Grey’s.

She had a daughter, Sarah, and a son, Nick, and starred in several other TV shows including the hit comedy series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, the CBS series Law and Order: The Professional and the Showtime series Justified.

She also appeared in films such as The Devil Wears Prada, which earned her an Oscar nomination.

McCarthy will be remembered for her role as Dr. Olivia Benson on the NBC show.

The ABC sitcom was created by Bill Prady and starred the late Bob Saget as Dr of the Year.

In the series, the doctor’s main focus was on social issues such as AIDS, sexual health and gender roles.

McCarthy has won five Emmys for her work on Greys.

In addition to her TV credits, she had guest roles on Grey S Anatemys, The West Wing, The Good Wife, NCIS and Chicago Fire.

She has also directed a number of films including the upcoming remake of Jane Eyre, The Big Short and the upcoming film, The Great Gatsby.

In an Instagram post on Friday, her longtime friend, actress, and co-star, Shailene Woodley, wrote, “I love you Melissa.

My heart is broken.

We will miss you dearly.

Your voice and spirit are my life’s work.”

Woodley tweeted, “Thank you for your love and your kindness to my family.

Love you @mcmahon.”

Her longtime partner, director and cohost, James Corden, tweeted, “@mcmahnyscott, the world will never know how much I love you.

I miss you so much.

I can’t believe it.

My love for you will always be with me.”

In addition, she wrote, “@hollywood, @melissamccarthy and the entire Grey’s family, I am truly sorry for the loss of my dear friend, my best friend and best friend’s mom.

I love and miss you, Melissa.”
